2009 Mackey Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Tasting Notes - This vibrant, elegantly structured Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a deep garnet color with exuberant aromatics, beautiful structure, good complexity, and length. The bouquet offers cassis, black cherry, earth, truffle, eucalyptus, and mint. The palate’s silky texture and fine-grained tannins envelop flavors of cassis, blackberry, dark plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, mint, minerals, and earth. The resonant, silky finish lingers for well over a minute. Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 6-8 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 12-15 years.

Winemaker Tasting Notes - Like the 2008 Syrah, this wine exhibits beautiful structure, complexity, and length, albeit in a generally riper, rounder style.  The bouquet offers black cherry, blackberry, vanilla, earth, truffle, and grilled meats.  The palate's silky texture and fine tannins envelop flavors of ripe blackberry, black cherry, grilled meats, black pepper, vanilla, mint, minerals, and earth.  The resonant, silky finish lingers for well over a minute.  This elegantly structured Syrah is a testament to the unique terroirs of Walla Walla.  Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 8-10 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 15-20 years.

Winemaker Tasting Notes - The 2009 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is an intense, richly textured, full-bodied wine that will easily stand up to and complement the richest meat dishes.  The aroma offers a beguiling mix of cassis, cinnamon, mint, truffles, and earth.  The palate has clearly defined notes of cassis, blackberry, mint, leather, tobacco, pencil lead, vanilla, dark chocolate, and cinnamon.  The substantial tannins are ripe and supple.  The refreshing acidity provides a high-toned lift on the very long resonant finish.  Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 10-12 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 25-30 years.

2011 Mackey Vineyards Riesling

Winemaker Tasting Notes - Light straw-colored with hints of green, this quintessential Riesling offers up a complex bouquet of citrus, pear, melon, mineral, honeysuckle, and tangerine peel.  On the palate the crisp acidity frames flavors of melon, pear, apple, and citrus.  This is a vibrant, intense, and impeccably balanced Riesling with laser-like focus.  The wine is made in an off-dry, Kabinett style.  It should evolve for several years and drink well for approximately 10 years.

Winemaker Tasting Notes – This 100% Merlot (58.4% Dionysus Vineyard and 41.6% DuBrul Vineyard} has gorgeous aromatics of black cherry, black plum, espresso, vanilla, sage, mint, and earth. On the palate the primary fruit components of raspberry, black cherry, and black plum are delicately balanced with notes of grilled meat, scorched earth, dark chocolate, espresso, and vanilla. The seamless, silky tannins and elegant texture lead into a rich, lingering finish of raspberry, tobacco, and vanilla. Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 7-9 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 15-20 years.
